Add a live chat widget to your Instinctor site. Configure automated replies, connect SMS forwarding, and manage conversations from the admin inbox.
In the Instinctor admin, go to Settings and open the Chat section. Toggle the chat widget on. A chat button will appear in the bottom corner of every published page on your site. By default it shows a message icon and your store name. You can change the button label and position in the same settings panel.
The chat system generates replies based on your store profile. Go to Settings, open Store Profile, and fill in the fields: business name, industry, a description of your services, the audience you serve, your tone, and your main call to action. The more specific these are, the more accurate the automated replies will be. For example, setting tone to direct and concise produces shorter, factual replies rather than long explanations.
To receive new messages on your phone, go to Settings, open Notifications, and enter a phone number for SMS or WhatsApp forwarding. When a visitor sends their first message in a chat, you receive a notification on your phone immediately. You can reply from the admin panel at any time, but the SMS alert lets you catch time-sensitive inquiries without checking the admin dashboard.
Open your published site in a private browser window so you appear as a regular visitor. Click the chat button and send a message. You should see an automated reply within a few seconds. Check your admin inbox under Chat to confirm the conversation was recorded. If you configured SMS forwarding, verify the notification arrives on your phone.
Open the Chat section in the admin panel. Each conversation is listed with the visitor's messages and the automated replies. Click a conversation to open the full thread. Type your reply in the text field at the bottom and press Send. Your reply appears in the visitor's chat widget in real time. You can take over any conversation this way, regardless of whether automated replies are running.
After a few days of real conversations, review the automated replies in the inbox. If the AI is giving inaccurate answers about pricing or availability, update the relevant fields in your store profile. More specific descriptions produce more accurate replies. If a question type keeps coming up that the system handles poorly, you can set up a manual reply template for it in the Chat settings.
