Getting Started

Two ways to get a site

WordPress plugin: Download the plugin from instinctor.com and install it on your WordPress site. No license is required to start building. The free version gives you the full Impulse builder, ecommerce, chat, booking, and SEO tools.

Managed Standalone: Instinctor installs and configures a standalone site on your domain for you. You provide the domain; the team handles the server setup. After setup you manage and edit the site yourself using Impulse. Contact the team via instinctor.com to get started.

Downloading the plugin

Go to instinctor.com and click Download. Install the zip on your WordPress site the same way as any other plugin: Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin. The plugin is distributed directly from instinctor.com, not from WordPress.org.

Setting up your store profile

Before building pages, fill in Settings > Store Info. This data feeds Instagent (the section generator and chat), SEO defaults, and automated chat replies.

Required fields for best results:

  • Store name
  • Industry
  • Business description (what the business does, who it serves)
  • Target audience
  • Tone (friendly, professional, concise)

A blank store profile produces generic responses from Instagent.

Building pages

Pages are built in the Impulse editor. Each page is a sequence of full-viewport screens. Add a page, open it in the editor, and add your first screen. Each screen has a background (color, image, or animated effect) and contains blocks (heading, text, image, button, products, booking form, etc.).

The Instagent section generator is in the left panel. Select a section type, write a one-line description of what you want, and Instagent builds the section with copy drawn from your store profile.

Upgrading to Pro

The Pro license ($29.90/month) unlocks:

  • Animated WebGL backgrounds (clouds, aurora, plasma, fog, rain, and more)
  • 3D depth effects and parallax from any photo
  • SMS notifications for new chat messages

Everything else, including the builder, ecommerce, chat, booking, and SEO, is included in the free version.

Your site lives on your domain

In both modes, your site is served from your own domain (e.g., yourbusiness.com). Instinctor does not publish sites to a subdirectory of instinctor.com.

Getting help

The Help button inside the editor opens Instagent in help mode. It can answer questions about any block, setting, or workflow. For account or technical issues, use the support form on instinctor.com.
